The world famous Shanghai Exposition started with colours on May.1 2010. Over 100 countries bring the most national features and styles from their own countries. In the modernized show, the utilization of the sound and light has been more and more wide and common. Therefore, we say the World Expo is not only the show for the culture from all over the world, but also a show for the Audio and Video field.

The "Mobius Strip" is used in the Pavilion of Venezuela, its 3 Dimension structure is called "Klein Bottle" which means an edgeless continues close curved surface, outer side is harmonized with the inner side. The pavilion is like the number"8" in the view of surface. The layer boundary is watered down with the circle line structure, strengthening the integral feeling of the space. There is a square inside the pavilion, in the center of which is placed with the horse riding statue of the South America liberator Simon Polivar. Stepping into the Pavilion, the visitors will see an ancestor offering place-Shanpono, where it is a public living area for the Yanomami people. The design shows a circle corridor, in the mid is an exposed yard..

Three storey music hall imitates the public living place of Yekuana, Churuata. The dorm on the top symbolize the universe. A column in the center means Here is the center of the world or tree of lives. Here the visitors are able to see the current living pictures through a satellite launched by China and Venezuela. Moreover in the music, the most famous orchestra band will give their performance. Through an up-down channel, the visitors are able to appreciate the field picture created by the hydrophyte covering the pavilion top so as to feel the natural freshness.


ITAV has been totally involved in the construction of the multimedia control for the Venezuela Pavilion. It realizes the control for the projectors in the circle corridor, the player, the back projectors, the huge projectors ,the screen and big curtain of the grand theatre. Moreover it controls the music footsteps in the all the pavilion entrances.

All the pavilion is very complicated in structure, there are 5 layers of the ground and underground. On every layer is there the need to control the multimedia equipments. The workers will be exhausted if every control is manual. So a touch panel is needed to control all the system. Due to a great number of equipments,for more convenient operation and administration, we have made the daily time-auto on and off setting. On the time of daily open and close of the pavilion, the projectors and players and some other equipments will be automatically on and off. In the interface design of the touch panel, we take the usage methods of the native people into consideration and embodies the national feature and pavilion feature of Venezuela. Moreover,we made a humanized design of "one key on, one key off", which makes the management and usage more convenient.

A Touch Panel is needed in the complex reinforced concrete structural building, and this brings forward high request of the wireless control signal. We firstly adopted the WIFI central control system, however, the reinforced concrete structure is so complicated that even the WIFI system also cannot assure the signal coverage to each control area. After repeated testing, we adopt the technique of wireless signal bridge and cascade connection. There are 6 cascade connected wireless receivers are set around the whole pavilion to assure the wireless signal is covering all over each area need to be controlled and realize the WIFI control easily.
Besides, A big musical step is designed around the entrance of the pavilion. There are 8 red circles in the big step, and each circle is corresponded to a sensing system and a background music playing system. Once a person walks into the sensor area, the waterproof loudspeaker box would star to play the folk music and introduce Venezuela. And when the person leaves, the music stops at once automatically. The difficult point of these functions is how to judge the visitors would be staying to enjoy the music or just walking through. There would be a time interval between stop and replay the music because of the time for the player reading the file. So it is a problem that how to assure that each staying visitors can enjoy the auto- play technology in the first time. With some complex logical combination, we can judge the visitors ′ behaviour in the controlling area. The central control can automatically judge the visitors would be staying to enjoy the music or just walking through by calculating the visitors′ passing time. When the visitor is staying to enjoy the music, it would be playing music automatically. And when the visitor is just walking through, it wouldn′t have no action. In this way, it not only realizes the music playing needed and makes the visitors feel fresher for the technology, but also makes response to the call of Low Carbon for the environment protection from the EXPO. In addition to this,for the big musical step is the only entrance of the whole pavilion, the central control is also in charge of visitors flow rate monitoring. Considering the high-power equipments such as projector, audio equipmens, etc. controlled by the central control would consume too much electrical energy which would make some influence to the life of the equipments, besides, the visitors are not uninterrupted, so we design a function accordingly. As it may take 20 minutes for each vistor to finish visiting the pavilion, when the big musical step without visitors walking through within 30 minutes, the large projectors and audio equipments would be closed in sequence. And when a visitor comes to visit, all the equipments would be opened within 2 minutes. There are 4 sets of central control main units dealing with different tasks separately, and these 4 central control main units are linked with each other by control lines, so the control units of the pavilion can be mutual controlled.


The curator of the Venezuelan Pavilion is very satisfied with the whole central control project. And he said, there are so many works can be controlled automatically now instead of a lot of professionals working together before, and it is pretty good that they can also operate these central control units by themselves conveniently; Venezuela is a very beautiful country, we hope that we could know more about each other through this cooperation, and welcome to Venezuela!
